How do I apply for accommodation?
There is now a new scheme to apply for social housing operating across the county. All Housing Associations and local authorities have joined together to form “Gloucestershire Homeseeker”. In order to apply for accommodation anywhere in the county you make an online application, which when accepted allows you to bid for suitable properties when available.
Where can I apply?
Applications can only be made online. This can be done at home, in a public building such as a library, council offices or at our office where a computer is available in reception for this purpose. Information and instructions on how to complete the application is available on the website www.gloshomeseeker.co.uk
Can I talk to someone before I apply?
Our housing staff are here to offer you help and advice. We cannot help all those who come to us for housing, but we hope we can offer you advice on your housing options.

What happens next?
When you complete your registration, you will receive a notification or e-mail telling you what band you have been placed in and what size property you are eligible for. Available properties are advertised online and in a newletter available on the website or in council, housing association or other locations such as libraries. You can bid for up to 3 properties per week either on the website, by phone or by text message. After bids have closed, the property will usually be offered to the applicant in the highest band who has been waiting the longest and who meets the criteria stated in the advert.
Will I have a choice of housing?
This new scheme is called “Choice Based Letting”, so you bid for accommodation of your choosing rather than wait to be allocated as in the past. It will not always be possible to obtain accommodation in your areas of choice. Homes in areas of high demand will receive many bids when advertised.Full details are included on the website which lists all the available locations throughout the district and county. Available properties are featured in the weekly newsletter.
